Jason Leifer

candidate for town supervisor

Jason has been serving on Dryden's Town Board since 2008, as Deputy Supervisor from 2012-2015, and as Town Supervisor since 2016. He is an attorney licensed in New York, Maryland, and Washington DC, and represents parents and children in Family Court, Criminal Court, and in Civil matters.  He is a progressive and is a strong advocate for protecting our democracy from far-right extremists and oligarchs, protecting voting rights, protecting the environment, bringing green investment into Dryden, expanding public access to Broadband Internet with Dryden Fiber, and supporting working families.  Since becoming Supervisor Dryden has seen over $150 million in public and private investment in the Dryden Rail Trail, Solar Farms, Dryden Fiber, Water and Sewer Upgrades, new housing development, and new businesses.

Dan Lamb

candidate for town Board

Dan Lamb serves as Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Dryden, where he brings decades of public service experience to local government. Before serving in local government, Lamb worked as a congressional aide for 15 years, advising on federal policy, constituent services, and regional development initiatives. In Dryden, he has focused on strengthening community infrastructure, supporting public safety, and promoting sustainable growth.

Lamb has played a key role in advancing the Dryden Rail Trail, a multi-use community asset that connects neighborhoods, schools, and natural areas while encouraging recreation and alternative transportation. His leadership has helped secure critical funding, build partnerships, and guide construction phases, turning the trail into a celebrated project for the town. In addition, Lamb has been an advocate for local emergency services, working closely with volunteer fire and ambulance departments to improve resources, training, and coordination across Dryden.

Through these efforts, Lamb has established himself as a pragmatic and collaborative leader dedicated to building a stronger, safer, and more connected community.

<p>Leonardo Vargas-Mendez</p>

Leonardo Vargas-Mendez

candidate for town Board

Leonardo Vargas-Mendez was appointed to the Dryden town board in February 2021 to fill a vacancy and won his first full term that fall. Leonardo chairs the town’s Affordable and Workforce Housing Committee, which has been active in securing public and private resources to support new housing supply and rehabilitation of existing homes in Dryden. He is eager to continue working to improve the quality of life for all town residents, while preserving our beautiful, productive environment.

A 47-year resident of Tompkins County, Leonardo retired in 2017 after 30 years at Cornell. He was director of the university’s Public Service Center, which matches students with volunteer agencies around the world. He has served on numerous local boards, including Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services, Catholic Charities of Tompkins and Tioga Counties, and the Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County.

Richard Young Jr.

candidate for Highway superintendent

Rick Young was first elected Dryden Highway Superintendent in 2013 and has been chosen by the voters to continue serving the town ever since. The former chief of Neptune Hose Company, Rick brought with him years of management and budgeting experience and a GPS-like knowledge of the town. Dedicated to responsive management of the town’s resources, Rick actively reaches out to community members and uses their input to plan everything from plowing, to ditching, to road and bridge repair.

Rick has helped the town secure grants totaling more than $1,000,000 for a streambank stabilization project, to repair two critical town bridges, and to build and maintain roads and culverts. In addition, he and his team maintain the Dryden Rail Trail for the benefit of all. Rick looks forward to serving Dryden’s residents and visitors for another four years.
