"Hands Off!"
All around the country, voters—average people—turned out en masse to tell Trump and Musk to keep their hands off…everything they are trying to tear down.
About 1,500 people (estimates range from 1,000 to 3,000) braved the predicted weather to gather and to give voice to our concerns. The weather lent a helping hand with unexpectedly dry, but typically gray skies.
The gathering presented a united front to illustrate that, The power of the people is much stronger than the people in power.
Speakers amplified the many different constituencies of the crowd: immigrants, academia, LGBT, climate and environment, young persons, Social Security recipients, veterans, and the faithful.
We heard from Ana Ortiz, Risa Lew, Kady Now, Chris Thomas, Zillah Eisenstein, Ann Sullivan, Paul Ortiz, Reverend King, and others.
We marched from the Commons to Meadow Street and spread out along both sides of a 1000-foot long stretch of NYS Rt.13. We chanted, waved, and held signs and we were joined by hundreds of honking vehicles. We had support from drivers and passengers in everything from subcompacts to diesel pickups…even a Tesla!
We don’t ask what our country can do for us (as some of our elected officials in Washington, DC do), we ask and stand ready to do what we can do for our country.
