TCDC Voter Registration Update

City of Ithaca Democratic Committee
Ann Reichlin, Chair

TCDC will be registering voters on Saturday, September 27 & Sunday September 28 at this year’s Apple Harvest Festival. Listening to voters and empowering new voters is one of the pleasures of tabling. If you’d like to join us with this effort we need lots of volunteers. Here is a link to sign up.

The humble act  of registering voters has never been more important. As Donald Trump’s administration threatens the foundations of our democracy by carrying out policies intended to suppress voter participation by citizens who disagree with him, registering voters is one way we can fight back. Our NY-19 congressional district remains one of the most competitive districts in the country. It is imperative that we help turn Congress blue in 2026 in order to successfully push back on Trump’s destructive, vindictive and dangerous actions. TCDC is laying the groundwork for that success with our Voter Registration and Outreach Tabling efforts.

In early June we tabled during the rainy Ithaca Festival and in August we collaborated with Indivisible Tompkins’ voter registration drive. In August with the help of the Indivisible Tompkins Art Team, the Groton Dems piloted a combination interactive craft and voter outreach booth at Groton Olde Home Days. One of the purposes of this effort was to build bridges with people who don’t necessarily share our same point of view. This aspect was a huge success. We had excellent conversations as kids and adults found common ground through the act of making a craft. TCDC also registered voters at the Tompkins County Worker Center’s Annual Labor Day Picnic.
